Hi gang, Rick Ostler here from North American Waterway bringing you Bayliner Boats along with news and views from the boating industry. Spring 2008 was a milestone for the NMEA because for the first time, NMEA Training Courses were held in Canada; the first in Toronto and the second in Vancouver.
The sessions earned great support from the marine industry in those regions.
Dealers from Eastern Canada had expressed interest in attending these courses, but with the distance, the cost of travel and the time commitment involved, many could not attend. The NMEA has listened to those concerns and is pleased to offer the courses in Halifax.
The National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) is the unifying force behind the entire marine electronics industry, bringing together all aspects of the industry for the betterment of all in our business.
NMEA'S Mission is to:
- Promote the technical marine electronics dealer through education, communication, training and certification
- Strengthen the industry's reputation in the marketplace through industry standards and recognition of excellence
- Promote good business management and fair business practices among its members
- Encourage the industry to hire highly skilled and qualified technical service personnel
- Educate the boating public through publications and seminars to promote the safe and proper use of marine electronic equipment
NMEA believes that the long term profitable growth of the association is a worthwhile objective that can be achieved only in a meaningful partnership with every member dedicated to improving the marine electronics industry.
NMEA has established an extensive education and certification program. NMEA is a pioneer in providing standards for marine electronics technicians in the marine electronics industry with programs such as the Certified Marine Electronics Technicians(CMET)Program and the Marine Electronics Installer (MEI) Program.
The sessions and dates are: MEI Marine Electronics Installer on Wednesday Sept 17th and the NMEA 2000 Networking session on Thursday, Sept. 18th, 2008.
Sessions will be held at the Four Points by Sheraton Halifax hotel in the Compass C Meeting Room. 1496 Hollis Street, Halifax. Tel: 902-423-4444
